Customer Rating: Summary: I Love Gideon Comment: Well Gideon is back in all his upside-down, kill or be killed glory. I love the character Gideon...I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to get enough of him. Even though he's a vicious killer, I just adore him. I liked the introduction of all the new characters but I did miss Lola and Miss J. Hopefully they'll be back in his life one day. I'm really over the pinning for Arizona....if she don't want you Gideon I'll take you.lol I know this was a trilogy and that means 3 but I can only hope that this is not the end of Gideon. The character is too deliciously mesmerizing, sexy and endearing. You just want to take him home, give him hugs and kisses and pray you don't get on his bad side.lol Gideon has the potential to be a long term character like James Bond, Jason Bourne, Eazy Rawlins.....I hope anyway. Question...did anybody else pick up on Gideon's animosity about being called a murderer? I found that curious and engaging....he's a contract killer but doesn't consider himself or want to be called a murderer....a lot of food for thought with that one.
NEWays...another excellent book from my favorite author.
Customer Rating: Summary: Eric, has done it again!! Third time is always the charm! Comment: Where do I start? The book is awesome from beginning to end. All the twists and turns will keep you on your feet and wanting more. I love the way the author makes you feel like you are in the book with the characters. He is very descriptive. The book gives a different plot than the normal, boy meets girl, girl falls in love with boy, etc. In this book there is full of adventure, mystery, love, anticipation, hate, revenge, emotions, and deception!!!!! Simply put, I love the book!! Hope to see a part 4.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Best Gideon story Comment: EJD, you must go to Antigua more often....it just opened up your creative juices, and you had them FLOWIN'.
You have really brought Gideon to a new level. You made him into a person that people could care about. I love your gritty writing. The last half of the book was the best. Excellent.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best of Three-Dying for Revenge Comment: I thought that this was the best of the three-of the Gideon Triology. This was a page turner-kept me interested in the outcome of everyone. Never thought that I would be so interested in an assassin-Gideon had me going. Don't read this one without at least reading Sleeping With The Enemy first, I recommend reading all three. Dying For Revenge - reminds me of why Eric Jerome Dickey is my favorite author.
Customer Rating: Summary: Dying for the Old EJD!!! Comment: With all the rave reviews I'm sorry to say I didn't find the 3rd installment of the Gideon series all that interesting. And that's disappointing because I was hoping for a blow-out ending to the series.
The Gideon I came to know and love seemed tired and worn-out. His lust for the "game" seemed dulled. Dickey took us to many places, but his descriptions were often too long and too drawn out. I didn't need to know every landmark to get to a certain place. "Detroit" was less exciting than Cruella De Ville and the hit-woman with her shoe/shopping fetish just got on my nerves. He never let that die!!!! And her red-headed husband was annoying!
Gideon is sometimes teamed with another hitwoman, and she of course has fallen under Gideon's spell and proves to be good for him. Some stories were ok...like the shoe lady and the island boy. And the ex-boxer and Gideon, that was nice and some touching moment with Gideon and the Boy.
Dickey does great sex scenes, however thats all they are, because poor Gideon lacks a true love, (except perhaps Arizona whom he still pines for), therefore the passion dies. Some of the "battle" descriptions seemed a bit over the top. It left me wondering "could someone really do that?" There a still a few unanswered questions and bloodlines that need untangling. So I'm left to wonder is another story about Gideon in the works? If so, Gideon needs to get back into fighting shape to continue.
I'd give Dying for Revenge 2 1/2 stars. It's OK, but not as good as the second installment. It made me feel sorry for Gideon and I'm not sure that's how I want to feel about him. I know writers like to try different things, however after this trilogy and that aweful "Passions", I'd love for EJD to write a good love story like he's known for. I miss the old Eric Jerome Dickey.

After a bestselling doubleheader in 2007 with Sleeping with Strangers and Waking with Enemies (both reaching #9 on the New York Times bestseller list), Eric Jerome Dickey is back with the final installment in his thrilling trilogy—Dying for Revenge.
This fast-paced story about a steamy, seamy underworld of crime that spans the globe features the hit man Gideon, a character who captivated fans in the first two books, squaring off against his most intriguing adversary yet.
