Hollingsworth & Vose Introduces AquaSure and AquaSure Ag Pool & Spa Filtration Media - First Media with Built-In Antimicrobial Protection for Greater Filter Life
Hollingsworth & Vose Company (H&V) today introduced its AquaSureTM and AquaSure Ag lines of pool and spa filter media. The new filtration media offers high water flow rates with minimal resistance, while exhibiting superior filtration efficiency and dirt holding capacity. In addition, AquaSure Ag is the first pool and spa media to integrate antimicrobial protection into the fiber for longer lasting effectiveness over the life of the filter.
(PRWEB) December 1, 2004 -- Hollingsworth & Vose Company (H&V) today
introduced its AquaSureTM and AquaSure Ag lines of pool and spa filter media at
the National Spa and Pool Industry Expo 2004. The new filtration media offers
high water flow rates with minimal resistance, while exhibiting superior
filtration efficiency and dirt holding capacity. In addition, AquaSure Ag is the
first pool and spa media to integrate antimicrobial protection into the fiber
for longer lasting effectiveness over the life of the filter.
“AquaSure
media exhibits superior dirt removal capability, so pool and spa owners and
contractors may change filters less frequently,” said Dino Abelli, H&V’s
director, liquid and respiratory products. “The material’s construction and
fiber orientation allow water to circulate more freely through the filter
cartridge than in other media designs, enhancing the filtration process and
reducing strain on pump motors.”
H&V’s antimicrobial version,
AquaSure Ag, is the first pool and spa filtration media with protection built
into the fiber, not coated on. This patented breakthrough product incorporates
silver-based Fosshield® Antimicrobial Technology from Foss Manufacturing
Company, which is the most effective, all-natural antimicrobial agent ever
developed. In laboratory tests, the technology has inhibited more than 650
strains of bacteria, yeast, fungi, and molds.
“Other antimicrobial filter
media are only surface treated, and their thin protective coating can wear off,”
said Abelli. “In our patented process, H&V integrates advanced Fosshield
fibers into the AquaSure Ag material, ensuring effective antimicrobial
performance throughout the lifetime of the filter.”
The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have reported that more Americans are
getting sick from public swimming pools and spas. The agency’s latest statistics
indicate that in 22,000 inspections conducted in 2002, 54% uncovered one or more
pool safety violations that ranged from filtration to chlorine problems.
Improperly treated and filtered pools and spas can be the source of a range of
water-born illnesses, including giardia, E. coli, shigella, cryptosporidium, and
Pseudomonas aeruginosa (hot tub rash).
“The AquaSure Ag line is designed
to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria, reduce the effect of bacteria
build-up on filter clogging, and reduce cleaning intervals,” he said. “It’s a
highly durable media that is easy to clean and maintain.”
Both product
lines are made of 100% polyester and demonstrate a high-tensile strength in all
directions. They are available in 3-ounce and 4-ounce weights and are easily
pleated to fit a variety of cartridges and applications. The material can be
ordered in white or custom colors formulated to customer specifications.
“AquaSure’s unique web formation gives it outstanding composition
uniformity and consistency that surpasses industry standards,” Abelli said.
“This provides exceptional processing qualities and pleating characteristics in
rotary, blade, or pusher-bar pleaters.”
AquaSure and AquaSure Ag media
are ready for immediate shipment and the company is accepting orders from filter
manufacturers. For more information, contact Dino Abelli at 508-850-2215 or
