Showcall Inc. Provides all Technical Elements for Presidential Inaugural Event: “A Celebration of Freedom Concert” on the Ellipse
Lighting, audio reinforcement, video and technical production management was provided for the Opening Ceremonies of the 2005 Presidential Inaugural by Showcall Inc., a Maryland based technical event production company.
(PRWEB) February 21, 2005 -- “No night is too cold to celebrate freedom” - a
quote from President Bush as he stood on an uncovered stage in single digit
temperatures to address thousands of attendees at the Celebration of Freedom
Concert on the Ellipse in Washington DC.
Lighting, audio reinforcement,
video and technical production management was provided for this event by
Showcall Inc., a Maryland based technical event production company.
“The
Showcall team delivered a flawless event to us despite the crew and equipment
having to brave heavy rain, sub-zero temperatures, biting wind and three inches
of snow during the load in process on the Ellipse. These guys are just
incredible” Said Jason Recher, a Managing Director of Events for the
Presidential Inaugural Committee.
The event was designed to accommodate
65,000 attendees and included three LED video walls, a Martin Line array for the
main and delay audio system as well as dozens of intelligent light fixtures. The
stage, measuring 60’x100,’ was illuminated by BSL Productions using 28 Vari-Lite
3000 fixtures and 14 Vari-Lite 2000 fixtures, 70 ETC lekos and 30 Arri Fresnels.
Entertainment for the event included Ryan Seacrest as the host, and
performances by Kenny Chesney, Adrea Bocelli and Yolanda Adams.
With the
stage positioned to frame The White House as the backdrop for the event,
planners did not want to obstruct the view with horizontal truss structures or a
roof, elements that are usually standard for an outdoor event of this nature.
Jim LaBarre of BSL Productions, Lighting Designer for the event, had the
challenge of designing a lighting system to provide the even coverage and the
footcandles necessary for a broadcast event of this nature using side trusses
and a single downstage position 100’ from the downstage edge.
“It is an
honor to be involved with a Presidential Inaugural, especially an event of this
size and scope. It is a true testament to the crew, who kept all of the
equipment running perfectly, not a single piece of gear failed during the show,
in spite of being subjected to rain, wind, snow and freezing temperatures for
over a week.” Said Blayne Candy, Technical Director for the event and Co-owner
with Ajay Patil of Showcall Inc. and BSL Productions.
Showcall Inc. is a
Maryland based technical event production company which specializes in Lighting,
Audio Reinforcement, Video and Production Management for Corporate, Concert,
Political and Fundraising events Nationally and Internationally.
